A Thousand Yards Away By J.J. Campbell

broken souls
rambling down
yellow brick roads
full of discarded
survivors

the frailties of the
human existence

it's the cold lips
of a former lover

the death stare
from a thousand
yards away

all the while,
the love of your
life is six feet
under

patiently waiting
for something other
than worms to visit
her each night
