No Guarantees by K.W. Peery

There’s crust
on my coffee cup
this mornin’
that looks like
the Copenhagen
chew residue
refuses to
clean from
the splattered
cup holder
in his brand new

And I’m still
tryin’ to
convince myself
that this
goddamn job
isn’t gonna
affect my

I know
all too well
when a
man like me
eclipses forty
there are no
gold plated Cadillac
